Corporate Bios

Elizabeth Cates, PhD.

Dr. Elizabeth Cates currently serves as Chief Technical Officer and Director of Operations for Invenca, LLC.  She joined with Dr. Brian Morin in December of 2007 to launch Invenca, to commercialize novel polymer-based chemical separations media for the analytical and industrial chemical markets.  Invenca was named as a finalist in the Innovision Technology Awards in 2008

Prior to her work with Invenca, Dr. Cates spent ten years working in R&D and product development at a global textile & specialty chemicals company, Her experience in polymer surface modification and analytical testing led to more than $75 million in new product sales at that company.  In addition, she brings practical experience in intellectual property management and project management to Invenca

Dr. Cates has degrees in chemistry from North Carolina State University and The Pennsylvania State University.  She has four issued patents, with several applications pending, and publications in several major science journals.

 

Brian G. Morin, PhD.

Dr. Brian Morin, the CEO of Innegrity LLC, serves as the Chairman of Invenca's Board of Advisors.  He formerly served as CEO-Interim, co-founding the company with Dr. Cates in 2007.  He started Innegrity LLC, a specialty fibers corporation, in 2004. Dr. Morin has several hundred million dollars in sales of products based on his inventions, and sees his strength as working at the interface between technology and commercialization.  

Dr. Morin has a Ph.D. in physics from The Ohio State University and a B.A. in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Morin has applied for more than 50 patents on subjects ranging from molecular magnetic materials to polymer additives to advanced fibers.
